Newport, RI (Business trip sights)
We have been on an east coast trip, and it's been amazing! Granted, it has been
a business trip, but we’ve made the most of it whenever possible. Since
we only have one car, it hasn’t been much besides when Scott gets off
work early or the weekend, but we still have a blast. The times when we
don’t have a car, we’re content enough to stay in our well equipped and
luxury hotel room. Having an indoor pool isn’t shabby at all either and
both George and Emilie have strengthened their swimming abilities and
skills! George himself has made a giant leap in progress with swimming
and is almost independent and can mostly swim himself! George just
started yesterday to quickly come to the surface for gulps of air and
one time did five gulps in a row away from the edge! This is a huge
improvement from the earlier improvements he's made since we've started
swimming here! I was just so happy at first that he would swim to the
edge a rap on and pull up for a breath! His skills at swimming under the
water were phenomenal! Now George is well on his way at swimming safely
away from the edge as well! Emilie herself has mastered her float and
now can swim pretty stable all by herself with her turtle float! She
still falls backwards at times, but her tummy muscles have really been
strengthened by a week in the pool and she will even kick herself
around.
Yesterday we decided to "venture out" without Scott and drop him off at work so we could take the car for the day. Our first stop was Sweet Berry Farm where we planned to go berry picking but the heat and humidity were just to much to go through with it. Instead of berry picking we decided to buy the most over priced ice cream I've ever bought in my life since it was made "in-house" by a "certain person" they rave about. The ice cream was worse than store bought a $6.50 for a container that fit in the palm of my hand, but the novelty of eating ice cream at Sweet Berry and the novelty of eating any ice cream at all in that heat almost made it worth the $6.50. After eating some ice cream inside, we decided to head outside and I let the kids run around the grassy fields and took some pictures of them on the broken down trackers. It was pretty fun while it lasted, but it wasn't long before George was asking to go back in the cool car. After getting in the car and driving a bit, we saw a play ground and decided to get out there (even though it was hot, fellow playmates are always worth it!). We were blessed with a sudden downpour of rain and enjoyed the coolness for a bit. After that, the day didn't go so well for us till we picked up Scott, so I spare you the details of that inbetween. Heat, myself alone with the kids in public, and other human beings don't seem to mix well we'll just say. I'm never going to be so bold again.

After
we picked up Scott, we had an awesome time seeing all the billion
dollar mansions in Newport and basked in the amazing sights and views of
the famous Cliff Walk. It was absolutely perfect. Have you seen those
crazy mouth dropping mansions in movies like Sense and Sensibility?
Well, they actually exist, and boy are they so romantic. Scott
can't see how a building can be "romantic" but these buildings actually
were! Just imagine the love stories that could be written about princes
and princesses and nobility here!!! Just so beautiful.
On the walk, George and Emilie made it a good ways into it before we had to turn around. On the way, George and Emilie decided to pick me flowers as well (Emilie pulling up by the roots though, lol), and in the end I had a beautiful little hand bouquet which I took a picture so I'd always have it with me. George and Emilie are so sweet and kind to me, I'm so blessed to have the sweetest kids ever!
Due to privacy reasons, I will write/publish a day behind schedule so you don’t know wither we’re home or not. Common safety in blogging.
Will fill you in on all the amazing stuff we see. :)
