Yesterday for school, George had a blast counting in The Usborne Big Book of Things to Spot book and demonstrated his math skills. I'm so impressed with how well he's done. When counting Lanterns on one page, he said, "One, two... 3 more!" and "three, four... one more to go!" demonstrating his understanding of math! Math games like Todo Math and a few others have really boosted his love for math, and shows like Uumizoomi and Peg and Cat have also increased the "awesomeness" of it all as well. I'm working hard at making math fun for them and helping them see that it's all around us, and so far it's working!
With motor skill coordination and color, we focused on red yesterday and it was fun to see how into it George got. With focusing on "red," George looked through our magazines and cut out anything red, to paste on a plate after. It was curious to see George neglecting the bright flower pictures (if I didn't point them out) and seeing how he would go for strips of red, or red colored words instead. But boy was he focused and you could see he was really working!
We're really excited to start the Kindergarten program sometime this year, and around June we'll be going to a home school conference where My Father's World will be showing! We're planning on scouring through all grade levels to double check that everything important is covered (since you can't read through the books online, besides samples). We've never been to a home school conference before, so it's super exciting. I realize how silly it is with getting so involved and excited with his education so early, but I'm bubbling with excitement. Technically it wouldn't be until 2018 until he started kindergarten since he misses the birth date deadline with his birthday 11 days late, but we're touching on schooling lightly at this stage anyway. With preschool, My Father's World is mostly focusing on character/habits, bible, abc's, outdoor play, and motor skills and the like. Well, it's time to start our day. Love, Mary
