Sunday Hike
Seriously,
it was a "hike". Today we walked down to the ravine and up the dry and
frostbit water bed, and then up the slopes of our neighbors property
till we got to his awesome handmade trails (he's done a fantastic job, and there's no reason we should ever have to pay to get into a national park to do some hiking).
It was really interesting how it was a micro climate in the ravine,
with mud and twigs with leaves totally frosted over and covered with
snow (even the big rocks we had to climb over). We were dressed warm
enough as long as we kept moving, and Emilie enjoyed the whole hike from
my back (I still can't put her on my back by myself, but perhaps after some practice).
As for George, he did an incredible good job hiking, though he did need
a little help from daddy since the path we normally took was covered
with a fallen tree and branches our neighbor cut down and threw there in
the dry stream bed. The obstacles made it all the more exciting though,
so we didn't mind (well, George did, but he was helped over and
across). Well, it was a fantastic day, and we're thankful that it
shouldn't get colder than it already has! Love and hugs, Mary.
