My Father's World and Reading Lessons Through Literature (curriculum here!)

Curriculum time! I'm excited to announce that George's Kindergarten curriculum has arrived! Oh, the joy, the excitement! Oh the wonder at opening that box! Full of activities, book, books, and more books! And also a free bag thrown in with the coupon I got at our home school convention! We also got the curriculum 20% off since we ordered before the end of June! I was so excited when I ordered it, and even more excited now that it's here. Of course, we're not going to use it until we're done with preschool, but we wanted to get it on sale while we could (The earlier in the year, the better the savings). George is also doing just fine with whatever year curriculum on because of the math supplementation games (he's doing double digit addition). We're also choosing to use Reading Lessons Through Literature for his reading program which uses phonograms.

In our curriculum package, we've received the following:

Until the time starts for us to start Kindergarten, this'll be in a safe place in our room, but I'm so happy we have it all ordered and ready to go! Already we're using the Cuisenaire rods and looking through the Cuisenaire rod alphabet book. I'm also tempted to open up that blow up world globe. And the books, oh my gosh, the books, don't get me started! We're going to have so much fun reading. And with the library reading list in the back of my teacher's manual, the reading won't have to stop! It can go on forever <3

For our Reading Lessons Through Literature, I bought some supplemental books at the Home School Conference we attended, which make learning the multi-letter phonograms a bit more exciting (from "The Logic of English" curriculum). We would have perhaps used the Logic of English curriculum for Language Arts, but their program costs almost as much as a years worth of My Father's World curriculum... and Reading Lessons Through Literature costed us literally $20... Talking with the Logic of English booth helper though, I got some really good advice; she said that George's difficulty with reading had to do with phonemic awareness, so that's where my attention is at the moment! I love those multi-phonogram books, "Whistling Whales", and "Knitting Knights" and George is seeming to really love them too!

I'm so proud at how amazing George is learning, both academically and socially. He's so polite and sweet. It's hard working through trials with his sister, but they're working things out with some guidance. They're also playing so awesomely together now, and really are best pals! I love you George and Emilie *Kisses and Hugs You Both*
