Doctor VISIT
Today Emilie had her one week visit, and George finally had his 2 year checkup as well!
Emilie of course is doing well, and the jaundice is subsiding. Her umbilical cord is doing well too, and the cord powder our midwife had us get, from George's birth, is really helping out her cord, now that the liquid is starting to ooze out as the cord gradually unlatches (sorry if tmi!). Next visit in one month! She was completely spared of shots this visit too! With George, he had a thrill! After being to so many of mommy's prenatal appointments it was finally his turn. He refused a few of the procedures, which were apparently not mandatory since they went along and said ok, but otherwise, he loved the gadgets and gizmos and thought them all so very exciting. When the doctor came in after the nurses, George loved him, and was more obliging to a checkup than he's been in his entire life (granted he is two). It was jaw dropping how good he did! The stick in the mouth, he was totally obliging of, as well as the gadget with a light that they shine in your ear. We gave him lots of praise, and he knows he did great himself! He didn't even cry when they gave him his flu shot! Distraction of Masha and the Bear on YouTube can really come in handy... especially when it blocks the view of the shot! Non traumatic and fun checkup, check! The doctor did note that George was pale, which was a concern for me too, but he didn't think we should put him under stress of being tested for anemia. Really, I think all the stress is from the change of routine and the norm of daily life that's causing his paleness (stress), but he's eating meals heartily now with his grandma's yummy cooking (he was hardly eating the first few days of us being away from him for the first time ever and had such a cough as well), so I'm a little less worried at the moment. He's gotten lots of outdoor walks and play with daddy and grandma too, so he's getting enough outdoor time and is really having a ball! Great food in the belly and some time in the sun everyday are the best of nature's medicine. That and some time. I think he'll be fine, though I'm keeping my eye on him! Meanwhile with daddy, when there's spare time, he's clearing out the garage, making shelves and hoisting a beautiful, heavy dresser up the stairs, as well as many other projects he's been itching to do since we got into our house! Finally, he has the time. ;) Scott has noted however that his mathematical equations are subject to rebellion when he's very tired, but he does accomplish all his equations, even if it does take him a bit longer. ;) He's just amazing, what can you say. |
