Last Day of a Two Week Vacation
Whoo, lets say I'm a little bit stressed in the least! It's been so awesome having my hubby's mom here to help and Scott taking off time from work for two whole weeks Tomorrow, I'm loosing both of them at once, which is a little daunting. When it goes from three adults with an energetic toddler and baby, to one mommy with an energetic toddler and baby, who wouldn't be a bit stressed, right? I'm going to need to be focusing more energy on giving George attention now more than ever, now that it'll be just us.During Vicki's visit, she not only kept us fed and the house so clean, but she gave us some great parenting advice as well and, showed us the magic of distraction and taking charge. Not letting your toddler decide things that he really shouldn't decide (example: wither he'd like to eat breakfast or to get a diaper change or not. Normally I let him decide and postpone it a short while if he says no, before making it mandatory). It makes a lot of sense, and so far, it's been awesome as we've been getting it down. Apparently it's a work in progress, practicing the technique, but she didn't learn it in one day, so it gives me a good excuse for not getting it down in one darn day. Talking to George like an adult was really not working. Bribes with mints and distractions? Now that's something that gets results! When he comes up to me and asks for breastmilk, he cries and cries as I keep telling him no and giving him explanations. However, when I say no briefly and quickly find something to distract him (it's not always easy, it has to be something to really catch his eye sometimes), it works like a charmer.
