Doing Well

George and Emilie are doing great. There's still trials and hills to climb, but all considering, we're all doing well. With George, the jealousy isn't too bad, and he's a great big brother. With Emilie, we still struggle to get her to latch on, but today we're going to a breastfeeding support group that will hopefully helps us along. It really has been amazing this past week to welcome our daughter into our family. Having experience with George, this second time hasn't even been nightmarish like before. The "first two weeks of nightmare" are still pretty hard, but Scott bottle feeding Emilie at night has made everything less emotionally traumatic. I know bottle feeding is discouraged, but if my baby can't latch on, I won't let her starve (she's two weeks early and is getting over jaundice as well). I am worried quite a bit about breastfeeding, but I hope I can get the help I need to get started. Breastfeeding your two year old but not your newborn is pretty depressing. The nurses and doctors said that keeping her fed is more important than breastfeeding. Even if that is so, I'd like some help!!! I really don't think I can succeed on my own. In other ways its been easier for us as well is that every sound Emilie makes doesn't freak us out as much, since we've been there before with George. Scott does periodically pull over the car to make sure she's still breathing, but otherwise, yeah ;).  Hubby really is such a great daddy! The way he acts with Emilie just makes your heart melt as you see the two interact and the soft look he has in his eyes when looking at his little girl <3 As weeks go by, I'm sure things will get a bit easier, but we'll try to enjoy the somewhat sleep deprived moment we're in till then!
