Day at the Zoo!

Yesterday, mom, the kids and I decided to get in a last visit to the zoo before our passes expire. The kids had a blast but I once again remembered why I haven't been back for so long (it's really hard with active kids). We were able to go along the Monkey trail, go on a bus tour (which I had no idea was included in our passes, completely fee of charge), and got an amazing bite to eat before heading out. On the Monkey trail, we started out with the flamingos and a really prehistoric bird guarding it's eggs, saw a rainbow butt monkey, and ended with the Gorillas. The kids were more excited about the metal gorilla playground, but they both got a good peek of them when we held them up over the railing. The bus ride we really lucked out and got on top (less gas smell up there!), and George lucked out with Nana and got to sit in the very front of the bus, complete with a full solid glass window for the most optimal viewing! Emilie and I got a few rows back on the right side (best side for viewing on bus rides at the zoo). Though we couldn't see many of the animals well and mostly only saw trees and the backs of buildings most guests can't see, it was still pretty fun. Getting to ride on the top of a bus, feel the breeze, and not have to run after Emilie as she plots an escape so she can forevermore live in the zoo... was very nice! After the awesome bus ride, we got the chicken strip meal for $10, doubled the chicken for an extra $5, and made the fries covered with cheese for an extra $1.80! For around $18 it fed us all. After some popcorn for desert, we decided to book it as Emilie's melt down/tantrum set in. Scott was able to get home after 3 1/2 hour trip back (major traffic on Saturday apparently) and was happy to get in a nap in our quiet house until we got home and napped all the way until it was time to get ready for church! Well, the kids need me so until next time! Happy Sunday <3
